How to Get a Higher Page Rank For Your Blog

There is a set of tactics called Search Engine Optimization (SEO) that most blog owners have heard of but might not know how to leverage effectively. SEO involves the rules and guidelines established by search engines such as Google that determine how to get a website higher up a search engines results page (SERP). A high PageRank, Google’s famed popularity algorithm, will result in a higher position for your site in the SERPs, although there are other factors it also takes into account.

By promoting your blog outside of your own blog domain, you are engaging in off-page SEO. This may involve any sort of promotion, from installing links to getting other people involved with and excited about your blog. On-page SEO comprises of rules to help you construct/design and maintain a website that ranks highly on the SERPs. When promoting off-page you should remember that a link can provide an SEO benefit, and may also drive direct traffic to your blog.

Promote your blog on every social media outlet you can find

This will create social media markers that help your website’s SEO. It also creates a buzz about your blogs, which will help to bring in more traffic. As long as you promote quality content, it can also result in people sharing your content and linking to you out of their own free will.

Promote your blog with links on other domains

This can be done in a number of ways, such as with affiliate advertising, guest blogging, article submission and comment section posting. If you can install a working link on another domain then it will help increase your traffic numbers and your position on the SERPs.

Create summaries of your blog posts

For every blog post you should create a quick summary of around 50 to 100 words. At the end of each summary, you should put a link to the blog post. Collect together five or six summaries on a document and post that document on an article site. Call the post something like, “A summary of xxxxx blog”. People will read the summaries and may follow the links. Even if they do not, the links will have an SEO value that you can use get more traffic.

Promote your blogs with guest posts on other blogs

You can install a link, but you can also show the world how great you are at writing. They will be more willing to visit your blog if you show them how great your posts are first.

Make sure that all of your Meta tags are filled in on your blogs websites

The Meta tags are often ignored because they have a very subtle effect on your SERP position, but it is hard to get a higher PageRank without adding something to your Meta tags.

Go over the keywords that naturally appear in your content

As you write your blog, you will naturally create keywords within your blog posts. For example if you are talking about dogs in your blog then you are probably going to mention the keyword “Dog” in your blog a few times. What you need to do is go over your keywords and swap a few of them for synonyms. For example, you could swap some “Dog” keywords for “K9”, “Mongrel”, “Puppy”, or “Dogs”.

Optimize your images

Make sure that they load quickly, that they are correctly sized, they do not have a too high resolution and that they can be seen on multiple browsers. You should also be sure to fill out their ALT tags and title tag.

Make sure your page loads quickly

Install plugins to your content managed blogging system to make sure your blog loads quickly. If you do not use a content management system then you should optimize your page manually.

Make sure each page has a title

The page title has a massive effect on how likely your SERP link is to be clicked on. It is very difficult (if not impossible) to rank highly without a page title.

Put keywords in your anchor text

One or two within the anchor text will be sufficient to enable a reasonable amount of SEO benefit. You may also wish to put keywords in your page titles too, but choose carefully as you may have a hard time changing page titles without losing your web pages SEO value.

Make sure each page has at least three internal links on it

Your website needs to be very well internally linked if you want to rank highly. Having three links per web page is a good rule of thumb.
